3 advantages of coloured microcement
The fashion for the industrial style has brought with it a great increase in the popularity of concrete and microcement in interior decoration. These materials are associated with shades of gray – and rightly so, because it is their natural color. Gray is a great base and background for other colors. It is noble, elegant and universal – it combines with almost everything. And what if you got bored with omnipresent grey but still wanted to use the microcement in your project? Use coloured microcement that will add a whole new dimension to your home.
Not everyone knows that both concrete and microcement can be colored. The coloured microcement is as versatile and easy to use as conventional microcement, giving designers even more creative possibilities. First of all, by adding black pigment to microcement they can control the color saturation and get any shade of gray – from light gray to almost black. Secondly, they can let their imagination go wild and offer even bolder solutions, such as a modern fuchsia bathroom, a dark blue floor in the living room or dark green walls in the bedroom. Coloured microcement has many advantages, the most important of which are:
1. Durability – long-lasting solution with little or no maintenance
Whether you choose coloured concrete, or a microcement indoor our outdoor you will enjoy beautiful color over the years. The great advantage of dyed microcement mortar is that it is resistant to fading and yellowing so that colors will not be lost irrespective of sunlight or weather. Additional advantage is that coloured concrete / microcement is durable and therefore you do not have to worry about re-painting surfaces every now and then – it will save you lots of time and money. This is because when color is added to any cement based mix, the smaller pigment particles cover the larger cement particle.
2. Unlimited Color Selection
Microcement offers an unlimited choice when it comes to color palettes. Just add the right amount of pigment. Importantly, the microcement pigments are very efficient and affordable, just a few drops of pigment are enough to get the effect we desire.
3. Easy to use
It is very easy to make coloured architectural concrete or microcement. For example, the FESTFLOOR Life microcement system is supplied in two components: dry white mass and liquid polymer which, when mixed, give a beige color. For other colors, pour the pre-selected pigment into the liquid polymer and mix for several minutes to completely dissolve the pigment in the polymer and then mix it with the cementicious powder.
