Summer is approaching and so are the holiday trips. If you dream of returning to nature and relaxing in an idyllic atmosphere near the beach, we have something for you: Nera Etwa House in Croatia. By the way, you will be able to see an interesting interior design in a rustic style with Festfloor microcement there!

Rustic style and its features

The rustic style is characterized by a reference to manors and cottages from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a style for those who appreciate close contact with nature and like natural materials, tradition and coziness.

The rustic-style interiors are dominated by raw wood, with visible rings and knots (wooden floor, wooden beams and ceiling columns). It is complemented by iron, copper, ceramics, wicker, and natural fabrics such as linen or wool. Furniture, in turn, is generally massive and wooden. An old sideboard which you inherited from your grandma, a wooden chest found in the attic or a table from a flea market will work well here.

When it comes to the color palette, we primarily choose warm and neutral colors, especially white and beige, as well as earth colors: green, shades of gray and brown. The whole will be complemented by potted plants and bouquets of wild flowers – both fresh and dried. Where is the place for ultra-modern microcement here, you ask?

Microcement in a rustic style

Microcement has many faces. On the one hand, it has become a characteristic element of industrial and modern interiors, and on the other, it is the perfect background for subdued and cozy houses and apartments in the boho style. This is also the case of the holiday house in Croatian that we present today.

Nera Etwa House is a stone house on the Croatian Dalmatian coast, situated on the outskirts of Neretva Vally, a 7-minute drive from the beach and an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik. The location is perfect for nature lovers, cyclists, hikers, kite and windsurfers. The house is completely private and secluded with great views of the old olive trees, the hills and the tangerine fields. It can be booked via Booking.com, and a day costs about PLN 170EUR.

The owner of the building is an interior designer and she designed the space in the house herself, taking care of every detail. As she says herself, she does not want to be trendy, but strives for a timeless eclectic effect. He adopts a modern, global design philosophy with elements of tradition and enjoys working with high-quality natural materials. She carefully selects furniture and vintage accessories from India and Morocco, combining them with Mediterranean sophistication.

She chose microcement as the floor finish and it is difficult to imagine a better solution. Light gray microcement with a marked structure that covers the floor throughout the house, created a neutral base for richly ornamented, carved furniture, country knick-knacks and counterbalances the heavy wooden ceiling and stone walls.

Additionally, kitchen worktops and the entire bathroom (walls and floor) were made of microcement. All this forms a coherent whole and creates a cozy interior in which it is conducive to relaxation.

Who is willing to go to Croatia? 🙂
