Asthma is a common long-term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs. Its symptoms include episodes of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. It is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors such as exposure to air pollution and allergens such as like dust mites, pollen, grass, mold spores and more. Only in the UK there are 5.4 million people with asthma, that is, asthma affects one in every eleven people and one in five households. As there is no cure for asthma the only way to prevent its symptoms is by avoiding triggers, such as already mentioned allergens and irritants, and by the use of inhaled medicines.
Many people suffering from asthma has also hay fever which is an inflammation in the nose which occurs when the immune system reacts to allergens in the air.

Highly sensitive is especially hexavalent chromium, which in the past was the cause of occupational diseases of bricklayers, concrete finishers and other construction workers. At present, special reducers are added to the concrete, so that the metal in the cement and concrete can be converted into a completely safe salt (according to European Union standards). Concrete and cement produced in the EU are safe for people with allergies – what is more concrete and béton ciré became their biggest ally.
