What factors are suitable for outdoor microcement application?

To ensure optimum conditions for the application of microcement outdoors, it is recommended to work at temperatures of 15°C-25°C, choosing shaded areas. Such temperatures are conducive to the proper setting of the microcement, guaranteeing a durable end result. It is also important to ensure that the surface is dry, avoiding application to damp substrates, especially after rain. Following these recommendations will help you achieve the best results when applying microcement outdoors.

How to handle the application outdoors at higher temperatures?

At higher temperatures, there is a risk of the microcement drying too much, which can make it difficult to spread the material evenly. In this situation, the use of FEST Timer – microcement retarder is recommended to better control the drying time.

FEST Timer noticeably delays the setting time of the microcement and allows easy cleaning of the tools after the work is completed. This product is added to FESTFLOOR GO!, Festfloor Life or Festwall Life microcement at a ratio of 1 to 3% by weight of microcement (dry mass + polymer). It is best to add it to the polymer, mix it in and then mix it into the dry mix as usual.

What additional factors are worth considering when applying microcement to a terrace or balcony?

When applying microcement to a terrace, it is worth paying attention to the environment in which the work will be carried out. There is a risk of leaves, bark, insects, etc. falling from trees, so it is advisable to avoid application under a tree. In addition, the presence of animals can make it difficult to complete the work in the right conditions. To avoid unexpected situations, it is advisable to look around the area to be applied and take appropriate precautions.

What factors should be considered when applying microcement during the summer?

When applying microcement outdoors in summer, it is important to use suitable substrate reinforcement systems. The use of fibreglass mesh and Fest Life Base is recommended to help strengthen the substrate. Terraces and balconies are exposed to large temperature differences. In summer, these can reach up to 40°C, which can cause additional cracks in the substrate. The use of mesh will help to protect the top layer of microcement from cracking.

Are there differences in the choice of sealer for exterior microcement application?

When applying microcement outdoors, the only change in the choice of sealer is to use PU FEST Turbo to protect the surface. Please note that the PU FEST 2K sealer is for interior use only.

FEST Turbo PU sealer provides the highest level of surface protection. It will not turn yellow and is resistant to UV rays and weathering.
