Recently, exposed concrete has had a strong presence not only on the exterior of buildings but also in the interiors of our homes. Its universality contributes to its popularity. Concrete comes in array of finishes and can be used on floors, ceilings, walls, doors and furniture. It can also be cast to create countertops, flower pots ad even stairs and staircases.

Clients turn to us with many questions about how to get the effect of concrete on the wall or floor, what product to choose, how to apply it, where to look for trusted contractors. We answer all technical questions and dispel doubts, but when it comes to the interior design itself, in which the client would like to apply microcement, we usually refer to photos from the implementation or to look for inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest. It is the client who has to decide what shade of microcement to choose, what texture – whether he likes a more smooth surface or one with coarse grain.

You can always use the advice of an interior architect, but it is not necessary. How to design stylish concrete interiors with Roomstyler

One of the most popular design programs is Roomstyler. It is an online program that does not require installation on your computer – all images and libraries are stored in the cloud and do not take up disk space on your computer. The program is so simple and intuitive that everyone should deal with it.

In the center of the work area there is a camera, and in the upper right corner of the workspace there is visualisation of the room. Switching between 2D and 3D views takes place after clicking the square which can be seen in the upper right corner. On the left there is a menu that allows you to insert walls, windows, doors and furniture.

We start the project by setting the shape and dimensions of the room (we can design both the whole flat or the house and only one room). We can do this in the menu on the left by dragging the selected shape to the work area and dropping it. We can also draw walls (“draw your own walls” option). In order to be able to take full advantage of all the functions of the program – save the created project and take a 3D photo we have to register. We see the project both on the projection and on the eye of the camera lens, which we set ourselves. To create a visualization, click on “take a 3D photo” and after a few minutes we receive it via email.

Below are two interiors designed in Roomstyle – abedroom and a bathroom. In both rooms, we used microcement to obtain concrete like finishing on the wall (microcement Festwall was used). We attach to each project a moodboard with inspirations, a visualization made in the Roomstyler program and a final photo of the room.
