Challenging project: 200 m² of Festfloor Life microcement
In this article, Tomek Grabarczyk of Twoja Sciana talks about one project that was particularly memorable for him. The team laid 200 m² of microcement floor in two colours, including almost 80 m² in an open-plan living room with kitchen. The work was not without its challenges – the lack of stairs on site necessitated the use of a special lift, and the weather did not help. Get a behind-the-scenes look at this project and find out what the whole process was like, as well as working with the property owner.
Ground floor – Festfloor Life microcement floor in S2 Smoke Grey
In the almost 80 m² open-plan living room with kitchen, Festfloor Life microcement was used , with a matt sealer finish . The realisation took place in autumn, but the weather took the team by surprise, as the days came full of heat. On top of this, the lack of stairs forced them to transport machinery and materials with a special hoist. Despite these challenges, the team managed thanks to good work organisation. The special hoist enabled the equipment to be efficiently transported to the floor and the work was able to be completed as planned.
“This is a realisation that was particularly memorable for us, because of the challenges of the lack of stairs and the weather. During the works, the weather played a trick on us and we had the return of summer in autumn – it was really hot. But the cake from the client made up for our hardships. It was a pleasure to work for such cool, open and friendly people.”
The client opted for Festfloor Life microcement floor in S2 Smoke Grey. The colour gives the interior a soft feel, and the floor itself is consistent with the rest of the space. One of the biggest advantages of microcement is its durability and ease of cleaning. The lack of joints means there are fewer places where dirt can accumulate – the smooth surface allows for quick and easy cleaning. The large glazing areas provide significant access to natural light, which illuminates the interior and emphasises the smoky hue of the microcement. The visible contrast between the green of the garden and the neutral colours of the interior creates a pleasant atmosphere and optically enlarges the space.
Microcement in the kitchen
Microcement was also used in the kitchen, creating a cohesive surface with the rest of the open space. Choosing microcement for the kitchen has several important advantages. First of all, its jointless, uniform surface makes it easier to keep clean, which is particularly important in areas prone to frequent soiling. Microcement is also abrasion-resistant, making it a durable solution in kitchens where the floor is heavily used.
Microcement on bathroom walls and floor
In the bathroom, Festfloor Life microcement was also used, with waterproofing underneath in the wet zone and the whole thing protected by a varnish to ensure durability and protection against moisture. We now offer HydroFest microcement for bathrooms, which does not require additional waterproofing – the sealing tapes alone are sufficient for the wet zones: at the wall joints, wall-to-floor and around the shower drain. This solution considerably simplifies and speeds up finishing work in bathrooms. Microcement is the perfect solution for rooms with high humidity – its jointless surface is easy to keep clean.

First floor – Festfloor Life microcement floor in FL01 WARM BEIGE
Upstairs, in the bedrooms and bathroom, Festfloor Life microcement was also used on the floor, but in the shade FL01 Warm Beige. This warm beige colour brings a pleasant atmosphere to the private spaces. The contractor has taken care of the smallest details, which can be seen at every turn – from the perfectly smooth surface to the precise finishing at the edges. The microcement blends in perfectly with the wooden elements of the interior, creating a cohesive and warm atmosphere.
Microcement in the bedroom
Microcement on the floor easily adapts to different interior styles, from modern to more traditional, so it is also ideal for bedrooms. In addition, it has good thermal conductivity, which makes it suitable for use on underfloor heating. This makes walking on such a surface pleasant for your feet, even when it’s winter outside the window. This is especially important when getting out of bed and placing bare feet on the floor, ensuring comfort from the start of the morning. The use of microcement on the bedroom floor has many advantages, which is why it is an increasingly popular solution in interior design, including here. Beige flooring runs through the bedrooms, bathroom and mezzanine.
To use microcement on a floor with underfloor heating, you need to follow some important rules, which we described in the article ⇒ “Microcement with underfloor heating: how to do it right”
Thanks to the use of microcement, the interior gains not only a modern look, but also functionality. Such a floor will be perfect both in the kitchen and in the living room or dining room, as can be seen in the pictures shown. The living area remains spacious and inviting for spending time with the family. The effect is practical and consistent, and the microcement performs well in everyday use.
